Central processing of electoral registers.


When a general parliamentary election, municipal election, presidential election or referendum has been called, Registers Iceland shall prepare the electoral registers in accordance with the registered domicile address of each voter in the national registry, cf. Article 28. 


The reference time and date for the electoral register shall be 12 noon [38]1) days prior to polling day. [Where a parliamentary election takes places after a notice of dissolution of parliament is served, the reference time and date for the electoral register shall be 12 noon 32 days prior to polling day.] 2) 


For voting during polling sessions, electoral commissions shall use an electronic electoral register. In exceptional cases, a printed electoral register may be used, cf. Article 35. 


The name, personal identification number (kennitala), domicile address, gender and nationality of voters shall be recorded in the electoral register. [In the event that a voter’s name or domicile address is not received from the national registry pursuant to the Act on the Registration of Individuals, the voter’s name or domicile address shall not be recorded in the electoral register.] 2)  


[Registers Iceland shall ensure the availability of electronic lookup from the electoral register to enable voters to obtain information on their place on the electoral register by entering their respective personal identification numbers (kennitala).] 2) 


Registers Iceland may process personal data for the preparation of the electoral register, which processing shall be in accordance with the Act on Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data.
