Repeat polls


[A repeat poll is a repetition of a previous poll. The same electoral register as used on the polling day on which the previous election was held shall be used. The candidate lists shall be the same as in the previous poll. If a repeat poll is held because the election of an entire list in a constituency or municipality has been ruled to be invalid, that list shall not be among the candidate lists in the repeat poll.] 1) 


If a poll is ruled to be invalid, a new poll shall be called and the polling day shall be decided as soon as possible, no later than within one month. [The National Electoral Commission shall decide and publicise the polling day in consultation with the senior electoral commissions.] 1) 


If a referendum under paragraph 2 of Article 2 has been deemed invalid, the Althingi shall decide whether to repeat it. 


In other respects, the new referendum shall proceed in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
