(1) Ballots taking place on business days shall begin at 8:00 am, but see subsection (2), and shall continue until 8:00 pm and so long as voters continue to turn up to vote. Ballots taking place on Saturdays or Sundays or other non-working days shall begin at 9:00 am and continue until 8:00 pm and so long as voters continue to turn up to vote. Voting is over when no voter expresses any wish to vote regardless that an invitation to vote is announced.
(2) For the islands of Agersø, Anholt, Askø, Avernakø, Barsø, Birkholm, Bjørnø, Baagø, Drejø, Egholm, Endelave, Fejø, Femø, Fur, Hjarnø, Hjortø, Lyø, Mandø, Nekselø, Omø, Orø, Sejerø, Skarø, Strynø, Tunø, Venø and Aarø, the local council may decide, at a meeting held not later than 15 days prior to election day, that the ballot on the island shall not begin until 9:00 am, whether or not the ballot is on a business day, if there is a polling station on the island. For the island of Christiansø, the local council of the Regional Municipality of Bornholm may decide, at a meeting held not later than 15 days prior to election day, that the ballot on the island shall not begin until 9:00 am, whether or not the ballot is on a business day, if there is a polling station on the island. If the 15th day prior to election day is a Saturday or Sunday or another non-working day, the deadline for the decision of the local council shall be brought forward until the immediately preceding business day.
(3) Before the voting begins appointed electors shall show those present that the ballot boxes
are empty. Immediately thereafter the boxes must be locked or sealed.
