Types of Elections
1. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the following types of elections are held in Ukraine:
1) elections of the President of Ukraine;
2) elections of Members of Parliament of Ukraine;
3) local elections:
a) elections of deputies of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea;
b) elections of deputies of village, settlement or city councils;
c) elections of village, settlement or city mayors;
d) elections of deputies of rayon councils;
e) elections of deputies of oblast councils;
f) elections of deputies of city rayon councils (in cities where city rayon councils are formed);
g) repealed
2. The election of the President of Ukraine and the election of Members of Parliament of Ukraine are national elections.
National and local elections may be regular or pre-term.
Regular local elections shall be held simultaneously throughout the territory of Ukraine, except for restrictions provided by law.
Pre-term local elections shall be held in case of early termination of powers of certain local self-government bodies and/or village, settlement and city mayors.
3. National elections may be held concurrently with a local referendum and a pre-term local election, a repeat local election, a by-election, first or supplementary local election.
4. A regular and a pre-term national election shall not be held concurrently with the all-Ukrainian referendum, other regular or pre-term national election, and regular local elections.
