Formation of rural municipality or city electoral committee in event of elections to council of new local authority

(1) In order to hold the elections to the council of a new local authority, the councils concerned appoint, uponagreement, the members and alternate members of the rural municipality or city electoral committee on the proposal of the relevant rural municipality or city secretaries in accordance with the provisions of subsections 1, 2 and 6 of § 14 of this Act.

(2) The chair and deputy chair of a rural municipality or city electoral committee are elected by the committeefrom among its members. The term of authority of the chair of the committee continues until the rural municipality or city secretary of the new local authority is appointed. (3) The rural municipality or city councils concerned adopt the resolutions specified in subsection 1 of thissection before all the documents which are necessary in order to alter the administrative-territorial organisation are submitted to the minister in charge of the policy sector.
