International election observation missions (IEOMs) have regularly observed prevalence of mis- and disinformation as well as manipulative behaviour (e.g. images and videos being altered). In addition to citizen observation, international observation can provide an assessment of the media, and the overall political context within which elections take place and against international obligations, standards and commitments and national legislation, and provide recommendations to further improve the process.
