Amendments adopted in 2005 reduced the maximum number of voters at each polling station from 3,000 to 2,500. The Venice Commission and OSCE/ODIHR have suggested a further reduction in polling station size to help eliminate overcrowding. While any further reduction clearly has cost implications, these may be outweighed by the positive impact smaller polling stations will have on ensuring the practical implementation of universal suffrage. Reduction in the maximum number of voters for a polling station warrants consideration.
