Qualifications for Candidates for Election to the Council of the Republic
Every citizen of the Republic of Belarus who has reached the age of 30 and has been a resident of a respective Oblast or the City of Minsk for the period of not less than five years shall be eligible for the nomination as a candidate for election to the Council of the Republic.
Candidates for membership of the Council of the Republic may not be nominated citizens who have no right in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus to occupy positions in the state apparatus in connection with their conviction that has not been cancelled or quashed in conformity with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
