• 1. The members of the municipal councils are elected by those who are residents of the municipality on the day of nomination and have reached the age of eighteen on the day of voting.
• 2. Those who are not citizens of a Member State of the European Union must, in order to be eligible to vote on the day of nomination, also meet the requirements that:
o a. they are lawfully resident in the Netherlands on the basis of Article 8, under a, b, c, d, e or l, of the Aliens Act 2000 or on the basis of a treaty between an international organization and the State of the Netherlands regarding the seat of this organization in the Netherlands, and
o b. they were residents of the Netherlands for an uninterrupted period of at least five years immediately preceding the nomination day and held a right of residence as referred to under a, or pursuant to Article 3 or Article 6 of the BES Admission and Expulsion Act.
• 3. Those who are not Dutch nationals and who work in the Netherlands as members of diplomatic or consular representations sent by other states, as well as their non-Dutch spouses, registered partners or life partners, and children, insofar as they share a household with them, are not eligible to vote.
