• 1. If, at the time of the periodic resignation of the members of the Provincial Council, the representative body of the water board, or the municipal council, respectively if the credentials of more than half of the legally prescribed number of members have been approved, the members of that representative body shall remain in office until this has been done. During this period, the members elected at the election shall not perform their duties.

• 2. A vacancy that occurs after the date of periodic retirement shall be filled in the same manner as if it had become vacant before that date.
