• 1. Members of the European Parliament shall be elected for a term of five years, subject to the possibility of extension or reduction of this term as a result of a postponement of the electoral period pursuant to the second sentence of the second paragraph of Article 5 of this Act.
• 2. This term shall begin at the opening of the first session after each election.
